Criminal Laws

Hello. Today I'm going to tell you my opinion on capital punishment.
Capital punishment has been placed in the public discussion as a result of several horrible crimes that have taken place in different places of this country. Crimes such as the case of little Javiera Silva, a 6 year old girl that was thrown to the sea alive after she was raped several times in Valparaiso. This incident placed capital punishment in question, because Javier's family wanted the rapist to spend the rest of his life in jail, and the public opinion was that he didn't deserve to live. I think that the best way of punishment is the privacy of liberty, and not capital punishment. Anyway, Chile is part of many international treaties that have abolished this punishment, so we can't go back to the time in wich it was permitted.
I think that a life in a situation of privacy of liberty is terrible, and that give the possibility to criminals to skip that kind of punishment by killing them, is a sort of price. The only way in wich criminality can be reduced is attacking it from the begining, that is, make the conditions of life better for the potencial criminals, that is, kids that live in homes full of violence, drugaddiction and poverty. This can be done applying different kinds of public policies that can ensure a better formation and estability to this children, and not only punish them when they have done wrong. They must learn to distinguish the good from the evil, and then we, as a society, can punish them in a case of bad behavoir.
