A Piece of News

Hello!
Today's assignment involves writing about a piece of news. The one that comes to my mind right now is the one of the childminders that didn't want to give the baby back, in Santiago. These childminders were a married couple that didn't had any children, and they applied to take care of a baby, that was wainting for adoption.
There's an adoption foundation called San José that provides the best parents for children that aren't wanted by their biological parents or direct family. This includes a special program of childminders, that are supposed to take care of the babies until thay can find a stable home for them.
The Porter-Castillo couple applied to be childminders, and they received Matilde. They where so happy with her that wanted to keep her, and adopt her of course. The thing is, that the adoption program is a very long an tedious one, that includes a lot of psychological evaluations, and money of course. This couple wanted to skip all this process in order to keep Matilda with them, but that wasn't the way to proceed and they had to give her back, because the foudation had already found a new home for her. The couple hid the child for a week (I think), and tried to do everything they could to keep her with them, but it was impossible becuase the law prohibited it, they where obliged to give her back.
The thing that I find remarcable is the fact that there are a lot of children that need a stable home, and that the law in this particular case didn't benefit the keepers that only loved and wanted the best for the baby.
We, as a society, must keep in mind this case in order to improve the laws, especially in the adoption matters.
